About Us — Summers & Gregson Timeless Timepieces

The story behind Summers & Gregson — a family-owned micro-brand based in Utah, building quality watches for people who value craftsmanship and honesty.

Our Story
Summers & Gregson started the same way most good ideas do: frustration.
We love watches. We love the engineering, the design, the way a well-made watch feels on your wrist. But we got tired of the choices in the market. On one side, department store watches with mineral glass and generic cases — fine for a season, but not something you'd pass down. On the other side, luxury brands charging thousands for what we knew cost a fraction to build.

Somewhere in the middle, we thought, there had to be room for a watch that was simply honest.

The Design Philosophy
Our watches are designed by someone who spends his days thinking about precision engineering. Howard Summers is a musician and a designer for Cannonball Musical Instruments — a company that builds professional-grade trumpets, trombones, and saxophones for world-class musicians. Designing an instrument that has to respond perfectly, with exceptional intonation, that will last decades teaches you something about tolerances and materials.

That same thinking goes into every Summers & Gregson watch.
Sapphire crystal — because a scratch on day one shouldn't be inevitable
316L stainless steel — because we've seen what cheap steel does in humid climates
Japanese quartz movement — because reliability matters more than marketing
In-house design — every case, dial, and hand shape is ours, not a catalog

The Name
People always ask me who Gregson is. Funny story. Thomas Summers, my great-grandpa,  and his genealogy had been a mystery to our family for decades. All we knew was his birthdate, the number of siblings and their gender. My uncle is the family history guru and after decades of searching, he decided to cast a wider net. He just looked for anyone named Thomas with the right birthday (or something close). This was before AI, so he was doing this all manually. He finally found one with the right date. He checked the siblings and there was a match. He tracked down some living descendants and convinced them to do a DNA test. It was a match! The funny bit is his name wasn't Thomas Summers, but Thomas Gregson!
My dad used to joke that Thomas Gregson probably robbed a bank and skipped town, changed his name to Thomas Summers and never looked back.

So it's a bit of an inside family joke and a bit of a nod to my family history. And I think it has a good ring to it.

Where Are We
We're based in Lehi, Utah, at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains. We design, do quality control, and ship from here. Every watch that leaves our workshop has been checked by someone who cares about the outcome.

We're not a giant corporation. We're a small team that happens to believe there's no reason why a $329 watch can't have sapphire crystal, 316L steel, and a movement that will run accurately for years without $800 service bills.

The Promise
Sapphire crystal on every watch. Always.
316L stainless steel cases. Not plated brass. Not mystery alloy.
Honest pricing. No artificial MSRPs designed to make sales look good.
Real people answering your emails. Not chatbots. Not outsourced support.
If that sounds like the kind of watch you'd wear, welcome to the family.
